The European Union
The difference is that the European Union is a political and economic organization of some countries in Europe. Currently, there are 27 members and they incorporate new members regularly. The motto of this association is to foster unity among these countries. It came into being in 1993 by the European Treaty.
The member countries were increased after its establishment and we are also familiar with the vote Brexit which was a voted by referendum to leave EU by the United Kingdom.
